It seems that Everton’s pursuit of Porto defender Ivan Marcano won’t last much longer, in case it really existed at all.

With the player’s contract close to expiring, there are several clubs keeping an eye on him, and the Toffees were said to be one of them.

But with the latest reports coming from both Portugal and Spain, it seems that in case the player decides not to stay at Porto, then he will be heading to Valencia.

A Bola are taking the latest claims from Plaza Desportiva to say that Valencia have Marcano as their main defensive target, and have been in constant contact with him.

A Bola themselves say that Marcano is in a ‘previleged position’ right now, as he can get the best contract of his career at the end of the season.

And they do name Everton as one of the clubs who would like to sign him, but the amount offered by Valencia would be enough to beat any competition, including the Toffees.

We’re pretty sure that Everton, as most Premier League clubs, would have the conditions to beat Valencia in case of a financial competition. But if the Spaniards are winning the race, it probably means the Goodison Park said were never that interested.

Or maybe their bid is still to come.
