Samu Saiz has been speaking to Marca, and that’s got the Leeds United player a place in the Spanish newspaper’s Tuesday edition.
Marca talk Saiz up and state he’s Leeds United’s very own Neymar, including some quotes from the player about how happy he is at Elland Road.
There was more to the chat, and Marca have added a bunch of quotes online, which reveal a long standing interest from Victor Orta.
Orta left his role with Middlesbrough in mid May, and on May 30th it was announced he’d be taking up a similar role at Elland Road. The timing of the Middlesbrough exit and Leeds arrival is interesting for the Saiz case, because added to what the player has told Marca, it suggests the Spaniard could have been playing at the Riverside this season instead.
“The sporting director of Leeds, Victor Orta, was following me for a long time and every player likes to feel loved,” Saiz told Marca. “I had proposals in Spain, but Leeds, even if it is in the second division, is a great club with a lot of history.”
Saiz only played two games for Huesca after Orta swapped Middlesbrough for Leeds, which means for him to be following the player ‘a long time’, it’s pretty certain that means whilst Orta was at Boro.
With four goals and three assists so far this season, Saiz has been one of Orta’s more successful additions, but would Middlesbrough have also taken the chance?
