Even before his move from FC Copenhagen to Werder Bremen went through, Thomas Delaney was already attracting interest from the Premier League.

Everton were the ones prepared to offer the German side a lot more money prior to the Dane’s arrival in January, but the Bundesliga side stood strong.

Then came the summer, after a solid six months in a new league, and more clubs were intrigued.

We already covered Tottenham’s interest earlier on Wednesday, but Burnley were also after the 26-year-old.

After all, this makes a lot of sense considering Steven Defour appeared to be on his way out of the club, with Olympiakos allegedly very keen on his services.

The Belgium international eventually ended up staying at Turf Moor for the current season, which could explain why an offer for Thomas Delaney was never tabled.

That doesn’t mean all hope is lost, as the player himself recently reiterated his desire to play in the Premier League one day, and SportBild in Germany state that if a ‘top offer’ were to arrive in the summer of 2018, then his wish could be granted.

Capable of playing either in the centre of midfield or a bit further up the pitch, Delaney showed his ability in front of goal recently by scoring four goals in two games for Denmark over the past international break, including a hat trick against Armenia.

Whether Sean Dyche would still be interested then remains to be seen, but if the Werder Bremen star continues his current form of five goals in his past three games, competition could be very strong next year.
