It’s normal for us to say that sometimes players want a Premier League move more than the English clubs actually want to sign them.

These rumours usually come from Portugal, with newspapers reporting unbelievable transfer fees and continue to push until selling club and player get their way.

One of these players is Raul Jimenez from Benfica. It was hilarious to see the Portuguese club demanding €50m when Everton were said to be interested, especially because the Mexican striker is a bench player.

Then he started being linked to West Ham, which would be a strange destination, given that Slaven Bilic has already spent heavily on his attack this summer.

Today, Record claims Jimenez’s representatives are set to meet Benfica and take a decision after analysing all the options he has.

They say the player is wanted in England and in Spain, plus there’s the interest from China, which is ruled out.

Benfica would only sell him for a ‘record fee’ and only the ‘crazy market’ would convince them to do so.

In other words: they still expect those unreal bids to arrive, and we find it very unlikely that they will.

West Ham would be best avoiding this one at the prices being pushed around. Raul Jimenez may grasp the chance to sign for West Ham, but nothing else really fits into place.
