Earlier today, we covered a report from Portuguese newspaper Record which stated Arsenal’s head of scouting James Ellis had sent an official to the weekend derby between Sporting CP and Benfica.
The match finished a draw and Sporting are favourites to win the league, only having to win their last game to do so. Arsenal were said to be watching Viktor Gyökeres, Ousmane Diomande and Francisco Trincão.
Record reports they will have also noted the ‘great performance’ from Morten Hjulmand. The midfielder is so important for Sporting and it’s a surprise he’s not the subject of more transfer links. Record state the Denmark international is ‘particularly appreciated’ by Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.
That is no surprise given Hjulmand grew to great importance under Amorim at the Lisbon club.
There’s no talk of Manchester United or anyone moving forward for the player, and given he turns 26-years-of-age next month this would be a prime time to move. If he desires a leap to the Premier League then perhaps he needs to give his agents a nudge.
Manchester United may also want to note that Hjulmand is a big Arsenal fan and has a tattoo of the club’s crest.
