It is now well-known that Napoli are interested in Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho.

Initially, it was reported the Red Devils want a fee of around €70m for the Argentine. His entourage has already met with Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna and there is a feeling the winger would be interested in a move to the Italian side.

The confidence for a transfer is now going overboard in Italy. Corriere dello Sport have reported that Manchester United now ‘aim to get €50m’ and not the €70m that was reported earlier.

Antonio Conte is said to be waiting for Garnacho but so much of the reporting seems to be wishful thinking. It is also potentially a way to convince the Italian manager that they have tried to sign his preferred target before moving to others, before Conte ends up being disappointed in his club’s ambitions in the market and starts one of his periodic tantrums.

After all, the report also claims that contacts have been made for Bologna’s Dan Ndoye and attempts are being made to include Cyril Ngonge in the move.

It will not be a surprise if Napoli’s pursuit of Garnacho ends soon, and the €50m claims feels too low.
