Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei has been linked with a host of clubs in the past few months but he is yet to seal a move away from Stamford Bridge.

With the January transfer window now in full swing, things seem to be moving for the Italian, with Lazio trying to land him this month.

Alfredo Pedulla has reported that Lazio held a meeting with Francesco Facchinetti, who is an intermediary from the midfielder’s entourage. The discussions that took place were rather positive and the feeling is that Casadei would eagerly join the Roman club ‘in a hurry’, if things go well.

There has previously been contact with Napoli and Torino but neither of the two have agreed a deal yet. That is why Lazio have now sensed the opportunity, having tried to sign the Italian back in 2023 as well.

The 21-year-old is well aware of that, and there’s an expectation the move can progress in the next few hours.

It is likely to be an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy of around €15m. The key point to be negotiated would be the loan fee because the Italian side want a free loan, but it is not certain whether Chelsea would agree to that possibility.

Despite that, the feeling is that Casadei’s future will be decided soon.
