Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Nico Elvedi is a target for Leeds United as Daniel Farke is keen on signing him in the winter market.
Last Wednesday, SportBild reported Leeds interest in the centre-back is causing unrest at the Bundesliga side.
A day later, Gladbach Live said a swap deal involving the 28-year-old and Leeds defender Maximilian Wöber would make perfect sense for both teams.
A new report from Bild mentions the Whites when discussing the German club’s transfer plans for 2025. They are 11th in the table, three points behind VfL Wolfsburg, who are in the sixth spot.
Gladbach want to retain their core and will only make signings if one of their key players were to leave in the winter market. The report makes it clear that won’t be the case in the summer as there’ll be ‘big changes’ at the club.
Their priority is to sign a new centre-back because of the situations with Elvedi and Ko Itakura, whose deal expires in 2025. The Japanese’s renewal has stalled while the Swiss defender dreams of moving to England where Leeds have shown keen interest.
Bild claim Mönchengladbach’s plan is to ‘give up’ one of Itakura and the Leeds target.
Farke’s side have better chances to sign him in the summer, more so if they return to the Premier League. Leeds may have to make a tempting offer if they wish to sign Elvedi in this window.
