Sevilla director of football Victor Orta has admitted Brighton and Hove Albion may take a different route with Valentin Barco after growing tired of waiting for Porto.
Estadio Deportivo cover comments from the Sevilla director today after he held a press conference to discuss their transfer business.
Barco is expected to cut short a loan deal at the Spanish club any day. He has been with them since the summer after it was made clear he was not in Brighton’s plans.
However, the deal has not worked out for any of the three parties. Barco has barely featured, failing to impress manager Garcia Pimienta.
That’s led to all three wanting a change this month. Several reports have suggested that Barco already has his bags packed ready to return to Brighton. However, that is yet to happen.
Porto have been linked with a move but reports in Portugal have disputed this. For every report crediting them with interest, there has been another stating they are not keen.
The situation has become something of a mess, with the Brighton man stuck in limbo waiting to leave Sevilla, where it is clear he is not wanted.
Now Orta has admitted that Brighton have grown tired of the situation and may end up sending Barco elsewhere.
“Brighton want the player to have more minutes than he can have here, and I know that they are the ones who are in talks with several teams,” he said.
“They have to make a decision, and they have told us that they will let us know shortly.”
