Aston Villa are in the picture to sign Levante’s Andrés García.
The right-back has started every league tie this season and contributed to six goals [three goals and three assists] for the second division Spanish club.
Sporting have identified García as a target but have to be wary of competition from other clubs, including Aston Villa.
That’s according to Tuesday’s edition of Record, who mention the Villans when covering the Lions’ interest in the 21-year-old.
Sporting are keen on signing Vitória Guimarães’s Alberto Costa, but he’s edging closer to a move to Juventus. Therefore, the Portuguese club are looking at alternatives and their focus is on the Spaniard.
Record report García has a €12m release clause which will rise to €25m if Levante were to return to La Liga and Sporting have found out they need €10m to secure his services in the winter market.
Aston Villa, Real Betis and Sevilla are also keen on signing the young fullback. The figure quoted would be affordable for Unai Emery’s side and it’s likely the Villans director Monchi is leading their interest.
The defender is managed by InterStarDeporte and the agency also represent Pau Torres.
