Glasgow Rangers manager Philippe Clement hasn’t relied upon Cyriel Dessers for over a month as he’s clocked in 94 minutes from the last nine league games.
The striker has still impressed, managing 12 goals and four assists from 30 matches this season. His performances and recent situation at Rangers have caught the attention of clubs in Serie A.
Earlier this week, we covered claims from Italy that Rangers are open to letting Dessers leave and Cagliari are in the picture to sign him in January.
Saturday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport claims Empoli have joined the Serie A side in the race to sign for the 30-year-old.
Pietro Pellegri’s injury has seen Empoli focus on improving their attack in this window and the Rangers player is the new name in their list. The newspaper adds Cagliari would also be keen on the Nigeria international.
With an earlier claim stating that the Scottish side are open to letting Dessers leave in January, Empoli and Cagliari may be successful depending on their proposals to Philippe Clement’s side.
Dessers’s deal lasts until 2027 and Gazzetta haven’t mentioned Rangers’ request in the report.
