On Tuesday, Miguel Almirón came off the bench in Newcastle United’s win over Arsenal in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final at the Emirates.
It was the Paraguay international’s 11th appearance of this season and fourth since the end of October, which includes two league appearances.
The winger’s situation at Newcastle has seen him attract interest from several clubs for the winter market.
River Plate are one of them and Soy del Millo provide the latest on their stance on signing Almirón. They have also relayed comments from the 30-year-old’s agent, Daniel Campos, who says his client has received multiple offers.
The representative has made it clear the proposals aren’t formal, while he hasn’t revealed the details of the clubs involved.
“Miguel Almirón has offers from many places, unofficial, but there are many surveys, one of them is from MLS,” he said.
On December 20th, we covered claims from South America which stated Charlotte FC have returned for the attacker, after Newcastle rejected their offer last summer. It’s likely they are the MLS side to have made an approach for Almirón for January.
Meanwhile, River Plate have ‘ruled out’ a move for the Newcastle player in this window as their manager, Marcelo Gallardo, is looking at other targets to strengthen his squad.
