Tottenham Hotspur’s Alejo Véliz has been on loan at Espanyol since the summer and his stay there could be cut short next month.
Three days ago, AS stated the 21-year-old has lost the trust of Espanyol manager Manolo González in recent weeks.
It was also reported the La Liga side are willing to let the Tottenham man leave to lower their wage bill and make room in the squad for new signings.
D Sports Radio took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report Racing Club’s interest in the striker.
Gustavo Costas, the Argentine club’s manager, wants to ‘reinforce’ his side’s attack in the winter market and has included Véliz’s name in the list. There’s no mention if the player or Tottenham are open to negotiating a deal with Racing Club.
La Grada relay D Sports Radio’s claim and then add the Argentina U21 international is one of ‘great candidates’ to leave Espanyol in January. The frontman, for his part, is also ‘open to an exit’.
If Espanyol terminate Véliz’s loan deal, Ange Postecoglou and his side have to make a decision for him.
The frontman has scored four goals from 16 games for the Spanish club this seaosn.
