Fenerbahce could offer Tottenham Hotspur’s Sergio Reguilon an escape route in the winter market.

That’s according to AS, who state Jose Mourinho has asked the Turkish club to sign the 28-year-old or AS Roma’s Mario Hermoso.

Fenerbahce left-back Jaden Oostervolde suffered a serious injury in October and is set to out for rest of the season.

Mourinho wants a new left-back in January and has asked the club to sign the Tottenham player or Hermoso.

Hermoso’s preferred position is in the heart of the defence, but he can also operate as a left-back. Roma signed him for free in the summer and are willing to get rid of him to lower their wage bill.

Meanwhile, Spurs had asked Reguilon to leave in the last window, but he couldn’t find a club. He hasn’t made an appearance this season and Mourinho could open Fenerbahce’s door for him next month.

Mourinho knows the defender well from their time at the north London club. In fact, the Portuguese tactician was in charge at Tottenham when they signed Reguilon from Real Madrid in 2020.

If Fenerbahce were to make a concrete approach for him in January, Spurs are most likely to sanction a move. In short, they will have an easy decision to make.

AS’ Turkish correspondent Mustafa Özgür Sancar wrote this report and it’s quite possible he would have obtained this information from a Fenerbahce source.
