In the past few weeks, Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has been linked with buying Brazilian club Vasco da Gama.

The attempt is part of Marinakis’ move to expand his global influence in the game and the appointment of Edu Gaspar is said to have been a part of this strategy.

It doesn’t seem as if the Nottingham Forest chief is stopping anytime soon and there is an indication that he wants to increase his grounding in Italy.

TuttoMercatoWeb note that former AS Roma CEO Lina Souloukou is ‘ready’ to become the new CEO of Marinakis’ expanding group, which also has Olympiacos and Rio Ave.

The report believes that Souloukou will work with Edu, and there’s more on the way.

Francois Modesto, who worked with Souloukou in Greece, is currently the technical director at Italian side Monza and he is being eyed as another appointment. The Serie A club are willing to let the 46-year-old depart and the report reveals that Roma tried to sign him as their sporting director in the summer.

The feeling is that Marinakis wants to make inroads in Italy and this could only help Nottingham Forest, who might be able to sign more players from Serie A.
