Wes Ham United defender Luizão appears to be determined to return to Brazil in January and we can add another name to a growing list of suitors, Fortaleza.

That’s according to Diario do Nordeste, who say the Brazilian club have already made contact with the player’s entourage about a possible move.

Reports around Luizão have been picking up over the course of this week, with the 22-year-old seemingly determined to bring his time at West Ham to an end.

He joined the Hammers on a free transfer from Sao Paulo in January 2023 but has neve appeared in West Ham’s first team, instead making 48 appearances for their U21 side.

He’s unhappy at the London Stadium and would like to return to Brazil and various reports from the country have made it clear clubs are lining up for him.

Diario de Nordeste now say Fortaleza are one of them, reporting that the Tricolor do Pici have made contact with Luizão’s entourage to ‘try to facilitate a negotiation’.

No official proposal has been sent to the West Ham man to date, but Fortaleza are one of several teams in the Brasileirão Series A now showing an interest in him.

They add that Luizão wants to return to Brazil and, given his contract with West Ham runs until June 2026, this would be in the form of a loan deal to a Brazilian team. He and his staff believe now is the ideal time for him to return.

Whether the Hammer sanction it remains to be seen but the idea seems to be gaining strength and so does the list of options for him if he pushes in January.
