Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has ruled out signing Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk in the winter market.
On Tuesday, the Bavarian club sealed a 5-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. After the tie, Eberl spoke to the local reporters and his comments are relayed by Bild.
The Ukraine international arrived at Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 and has struggled to regularly impress for the Blues.
Enzo Maresca has mainly used Mudryk in the UEFA Conference League and the EFL Cup this season, and he managed three goals and five assists in these competitions.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from Chelsea in January and there’s been rumours of Bayern Munich interest.
Eberl was asked about these links, and said: “He’s an outstanding player. He has a contract at Chelsea until 2031 and cost a lot of money.
“Of course we are monitoring the market, of course Mudryk is an outstanding player. But at the moment it’s just a rumour.”
Although the director has played down the Bundesliga side’s interest, Bild point out Eberl is well informed about the player’s situation at Chelsea.
As well as Eberl, Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany was asked about the option of signing Mudryk for the German club.
“To be honest, I haven’t looked into this topic at all. I know some wonderful Ukrainian footballers and you just mentioned Mudryk,” Kompany explained.
“But we will discuss these matters in January, we will talk about it in 3-4 weeks. So, I don’t have a specific answer to your question.”
