Manchester United are questioning the decision to sell Scott McTominay in the summer as he continues to shine at Napoli.
That’s according to Gianfranco Zola in a conversation with Gazzetta dello Sport, who believes Manchester United have not “digested” the exit very well.
McTominay has been winning fans across the board since joining Napoli in the summer, with three goals and two assists in 10 games so far in all competitions.
He’s flourishing in a new look role under Antonio Conte, with the new Napoli coach turning the Scotland international into more of an attacking midfielder and reaping the benefits.
Meanwhile back at Old Trafford, Manchester United have been struggling for goals and creativity at the start of the season.
That’s led to many looking at what McTominay is doing at Napoli and questioning whether the decision to sell him this summer was the right one.
Zola certainly believes that is happening and says the exit hasn’t gone down well at Manchester United so far.
“One of the best signings of last summer,” he said.
“Here, in England, they can’t understand how United let him go. They struggle to understand it, perhaps it’s a choice due to Financial Fair Play. It hasn’t been digested very well.”
