Rúben Amorim will need to adapt to life in Manchester after finally arriving at Manchester United, as there’s nothing to do in the city.
That’s according to Ronny Lopes to O Jogo, who was left unimpressed by Manchester or the rain during his time with Manchester City.
Lopes, now 28 and playing for Alanyaspor in Turkey, knows all about playing in Manchester after an unsuccessful spell at Manchester City earlier in his career.
He played for Manchester United’s city rivals in the early part of his football journey, joining their U18s from Benfica’s youth system for €1m.
He’s since bounced around Europe, joining Monaco, Lille, Sevilla, Nice, Olympiacos, Troyes and SC Braga before landing in Turkey with Alanyaspor.
Amorim has much less of a travelled experience under his belt, having worked exclusively in Portugal until joining Manchester United earlier this month.
That means there’ll be some adaptation needed by Lopes believes that may be difficult based on his own experience at Manchester City.
“In Manchester, you don’t have much to do, no,” he said.
“First, because it’s always raining. Most of the time it’s raining. The maximum you can go is like this, walking around the city centre and such, going to a restaurant or something.
“There’s not much to do either, because when you look outside and see the weather, you don’t want to leave the house.”
