Rúben Amorim has spoken to the Portuguese media repeatedly since it became clear he’d be taking over at Manchester United as the club’s new permanent head coach.
He has to do that in his role as Sporting CP manager, with an ongoing battle to make sure his pre and post match comments aren’t completely taken over by that move to Old Trafford.
When asked at the end of last week about his move to Manchester United, Amorim said that two other clubs had moved to pay his clause in the past and he hadn’t pursued those opportunities, and that’s where Chelsea have been dragged in.
Chelsea had been pushed forward as the second side who were prepared to pay the clause, however, A Bola report it was actually A Nassr who copied West Ham’s effort.
Previous interest from Chelsea isn’t ruled out, but it’s made clear they’re not one of the two clubs Amorim was referring to.
