Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has insisted he is going to play until he is 41 or 42 years old and believes that will be easy for him.

The Argentina number one was this week named as the best goalkeeper in world football by being handed the Yashin Trophy at the Ballon D’Or for the second season running.
His success is very much coming late in his career after joining Aston Villa in September 2020 following eight years where he had struggled to break through at Arsenal.
Goalkeepers generally tend to play longer than their outfield counterparts and it seems the Aston Villa star is determined to add to that trend and continue for another ten years at least.
“I want to play until my body gives out. I go year by year. Until I’m 41 or 42, I think it’s going to be easy for me,” he said when asked what his future plans will be.
