Charlie Cresswell’s time at Leeds United came to an end when the Championship side sold him to Toulouse FC in the summer window.
The 22-year-old came up through the ranks of Leeds’ youth system and made his way into their first team in 2020, under Marcelo Bielsa’s orders. The Whites sent him out on loan to Millwall during the 2022/23 season.
The centre-back was limited to 14 first team appearances during his time at Elland Road. He has been featuring regularly since moving to France.
Cresswell is now enjoying his life in France with Toulouse. He’s made eight appearances in the league, which includes six starts. The defender played the full 90 minutes in his side’s 3-0 win over Montpellier on Sunday.
Prior to the clash, he had a chat with the local reporters where he talked about several topics, including his time at Leeds. The player’s comments are relayed by Les Violets. His father, Richard Cresswell, also represented Leeds during his playing career.
“My father didn’t just give me a love of football, he gave me values and a strong feeling of family which are important to me today.
“I like to play somewhere that has value for the fans and at TFC I feel like I’ve got back what I had at Leeds or Millwall. The difference is that at Toulouse, I don’t yet understand the supporters’ chants.”
The former Leeds defender has also revealed the challenges he and his family faced after moving to France.
“My arrival? I love living in Toulouse! The weather is a positive point. At first, it was difficult for me and my partner. The language was a barrier, but we started working on our French, so it’s getting better and better. I feel comfortable in this first experience abroad,” Cresswell explained.
