Boca Juniors are wary of Arsenal making a move for goalkeeper Leandro Brey in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Boca Noticias, who report that Arsenal could mov for the 22-year-old as they continue to look for a backup to David Raya.
They explain that Boca president Juan Roman Riquelme is already thinking about the January transfer window and knows he needs to make several changes to the current squad.
Cristian Medina could be on his way out as Fenerbahce are keen while Brey is being ‘closely followed’ by Arsenal.
That’s been aided by impressive performances of late, with Brey coming in for Sergio Romero and impressing as the first-choice goalkeeper.
His latest big display, on 23 October, saw him shining in a penalty shootout in the semi-finals of the Argentina Cup. He saved four of 12 penalties in that, setting a new record for Xeneize goalkeepers in a penalty shootout.
That’s only added to Arsenal’s liking of him and Boca Noticias now believe they could move in January.
What we should point out is that Arsenal have been regularly credited with an interest in Brey since 2023 and there’s been regular reports on that without them ever making a move.
Their need for a long-term number two after Aaron Ramsdale left in the summer may have changed that now but we’d hold back any excitement for the time being.
