Joshua King has revealed that he joined French side Toulouse as they remind him of former club Bournemouth.

Les Violets cover comments from the 32-year-old to the club’s official website, in which he explains how he sees his old club in his new one.

King joined the French side on a free transfer at the end of August after at two-year spell at Fenerbahce.

He’s had a varied career to date, joining Manchester United’s youth set up in 2008 from Valerenga before going on to play for the likes of Blackburn, Bournemouth and Everton and Watford.

His spell with Bournemouth was undeniably the best of his career, though, as he made 184 appearances for the club over a six-year period, managing 53 goals and 18 assists in total.

The Norwegian was a major part of Bournemouth’s success in those years, helping them to secure promotion to the Premier League in 2015 and remain there in the following years.

He has struggled to replicate his spell on the south coast in the years since his departure but is hoping to bounce back in France with Toulouse, where he sees plenty of comparisons to Bournemouth.

“I had a long career in England and Turkey, but recently I haven’t played much because of injuries,” he said.

“I spoke to my agent seven or eight weeks ago, and I had a call with the chairman and Viktor (Bezhani, the head of recruitment). I liked what they told me.

“I like the Toulouse project; it reminds me a bit of Bournemouth. They’re not the biggest club but they have ambition and young talent.”
