Last month, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Fábio Silva revealed he made a “huge effort” to join UD Las Palmas on a loan deal in the summer window.
The striker struggled for regular game time under Gary O’Neil’s orders last season. He clocked in 373 minutes from 10 games and Wolves sent him out on loan to Rangers in January.
Silva wasn’t included in O’Neil’s core plans at Molineux this season, resulting in another loan move to the La Liga side.
Las Palmas don’t have an option or obligation to make his stay permanent. According to La Provincia, the Wolves owned player isn’t closing the door on extending his temporary stay at the Spanish club.
Silva’s immediate focus is to perform well on the pitch with Las Palmas, while Wolves will have the final say on his future.
“I always say and repeat the same thing, wherever I go. It’s not up to me. Wolves handle everything and always have the last word. What I can say is that I am very happy here. I can’t talk about the future because it is far away,” he said.
“I talk about the present and the present is training now. I want to enjoy myself here. If I do things right, the future will be good, so everything must go that way.”
As it stands, the former FC Porto man has to return to Wolves at the end of his loan spell. Silva has scored two goals from six matches for Las Palmas. He’s pleased to have joined the Spanish club.
“When you feel good at the club, with the people, the staff, my teammates… I’ve been very happy since I arrived,” Silva explained.
“People give me love every day and, on the pitch, it’s easy with the quality we have in the squad. I really enjoy playing here. Then, on an individual level, things come naturally. I’m going to continue like that. Then, the individual comes out when the collective comes out.”
