Fulham’s Raúl Jiménez has enjoyed a good start to the season, managing five goals and an assist from 10 matches.
The Mexico international arrived at the London club from Wolverhampton Wanderers in July 2023. He scored seven goals last season, but the striker’s situation at Fulham has clearly improved this season.
Jiménez’s deal expires at the end of this season, with Marco Silva’s side having an option to extend it for another year.
He remains hopeful that Fulham will activate it in order to extend his stay at the Premier League side until 2026. The 33-year-old’s quotes are relayed by Claro Sports in Mexico.
“My contract ends in 2025, but there is the option to renew for another year. That option is with the club. I hope to make it valid for as long as I can stay in Europe, and I welcome that,” he said.
On October 3rd, Club América director Santiago Baños stated the door will always be open for the Fulham frontman.
Even though the former Benfica man has talked about wanting Fulham to extend his deal, he has also left the door open for returning to his former club. Claro Sport insists he’s currently ‘not in a hurry’ to return to Mexico.
“It’s something I’ve always said that I would like to return to play for América,” Jiménez explained.
“It’s something that I have always expressed, but we are going step by step. The first and most important thing is what I am experiencing now. I continue to show that I can do important things for a long time here.”
