The uncle of West Ham United star Lucas Paquetá has moved to stop him being forced to appear before the Sports Betting CPI in Brazil.
That’s according to Metropoles, who reports that the West Ham midfielder’s is has moved to try and stop his appearance in front of the panel.
They explain that the uncle of the West Ham man, Bruno Tolentino, has been summoned to testify before the Sports Betting CPI in the Senate as the investigation into Paquetá continues.
He was summoned after being accused of having made, alongside his son, transfers worth R$40,000 in transfers via Pix to striker Luiz Henrique of Botafogo. These payments were made when the player was at Real Betis in Spain after he received yellow cards in games for the Spanish club.
Henrique was investigated by the Spanish Football Federation but not charged and the case was ‘archived’. There is an ongoing investigation in Brazil, though, and both Tolentino and Paquetá are due to appear before the Sports Betting CPI later this month.
Tolentino has now requested that he not be forced to do so, with the West Ham man still scheduled to testify on 29 October.
