Celtic wanted to include a a purchase clause into Alex Valle’s loan deal from Barcelona this summer but were unable to do so.
That’s according to Sport, who say the 20-year-old’s ‘progressive and satisfactory adaptation’ at Celtic may have left their failure to do so.
Valle arrived at Celtic on loan from Barcelona at the end of June and has been a part of the squad so far this season, with two appearances in the Scottish Premiership and another in the Champions League and League Cup.
They’ve only totalled 241 minutes to date, but he’s managed two appearances in four games, and it seems Celtic are keen on him.
Sport report that Celtic wanted to include a purchase operation in the loan deal for the youngster, but the player and his entourage resisted it. This in turn saw Barcelona reject the idea.
The player and his representatives wanted to be in control of the player’s future when he leaves Celtic at the end of the season, particularly as the clause in his Barcelona contract remains low.
The feeling is that he could open up a market for himself by impressing at Celtic and there is a belief that is starting to happen.
He’ll need to establish himself further and become a regular but at Celtic Park first but if he does, and keeps impressing, the Scottish champions may end up regretting their failure to convince him or Barcelona of that permanent clause.
