Giovani Lo Celos has been dealt a cruel injury blow months after his Tottenham exit, with the Real Betis man set for an extended spell on the sidelines.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who report that the Argentine midfielder is set to be missing for four to six weeks.

Lo Celso has been shining at Betis since returning from Tottenham in the summer after his miserable four-year spell at the club since joining from Betis in July 2020.

He’s quickly gotten back to his best under Manuel Pellegrini, with five goals in six league games to date and star status firmly achieved.

However, he’s now suffered a ‘very serious setback’ and will be on the sidelines for four to six weeks. That’s a major problem for Betis, who don’t have a direct replacement for him.

Injuries and a lack of movement in the window have left the Spanish club short and Pellegrini will need to adapt his side to try and replace the former Tottenham man.

The reality, though, is that Lo Celso will be hard to replace after returning to Betis in the summer and hitting the ground running.

His injury is a cruel blow for him and Betis, who both appeared to have returned to happiness together but now must spend some time apart.
