Georginio Rutter moved from Leeds United to Brighton & Hove Albion in the last summer window, after the Elland Road side failed to secure promotion from the Championship.

He’d been a key player for Daniel Farke last season, making an impressive 51 appearances in total for Leeds United, and adding eight goals and 16 assists along the way.

That form caught the attention of multiple clubs, and it was Brighton & Hove Albion who managed to convinced the player that they’d be the perfect next career step after his success at Leeds United.

That move has been going reasonably well, with Rutter having a bigger role with the Seagulls as the season has gone by. Indeed, he’s scored in his past two Premier League games, against Chelsea and Tottenham.

Given all of that, it’s an especially cruel time for the international break injury curse to hit.

FootMercato report the Brighton player has been sent home from France’s U21 squad, and at this stage won’t be replaced.

It’s confirmed the issue is injury related, although the exact issue isn’t shared.

Brighton will be crossing their fingers with the hope it’s all an abundance of caution.
