A week ago, FIFA handed Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez two-match ban for his “offensive behaviour” against Chile and Colombia in September. The Argentine FA were in “absolute disagreement” with their decision to suspend the 32-year-old.

The Argentina international has already accepted the situation and will miss the World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia this month.

On Wednesday, the stopper impressed for Aston Villa in their 1-0 Champions League win over Bayern Munich.

The Argentine media had a chat with him, where they asked him about the two-match suspension. TNT Sports have relayed his comments.

Martínez reportedly made an obscene gesture during the national team’s win over Chile. He was also involved in a controversy after La Albiceleste’s defeat against Colombia. The Aston Villa star had attacked a camera after the fulltime.

The World Cup and the Copa América winner has suggested the sport’s governing body seem to have something against him.

“You can’t control it. I give everything for my club and the national team. I give my best. Sometimes they have something against me, I can’t control it,” he said.

TNT Sports claim the South American has no choice but to accept the situation.

“I enjoy my team and my country. I have to train, I’ll stay here. It’s a pity I can’t be here, we have a team to spare. We need to win, if we win both, we are closer to the World Cup. These are games we have to win,” Martínez explained.

The former Arsenal man has set a goal of winning silverware with Unai Emery’s side. He has kept two clean sheets and conceded nine goals from eight matches for Aston Villa this season.
