AS Roma director of football Florent Ghisolfi has given Everton a hint of what may be set to come in the future with his latest comments about the Italian side.

Gazzetta dello Sport cover him today as he revealed long-term plans for the Italian club, something which Everton fans will be keen to hear.

Roma are, of course, owned by the Friedkin Group, who are now in the midst of completing a takeover at Everton.

The American Group revived their interest in the Toffees at the end of September and are now pushing ahead with the purchase, which should be completed before the end of the year if everything goes to plan.

In the meantime, they need to stabilise the ship at Roma, where they have found increased opposition to their ownership after the sacking of manager Daniele de Rossi.

That’s seen ultra groups calling for them to leave, the CEO depart after being given police protection and general unhappiness.

That’s soured what had been a previously good relationship after the American group stabilised the club, cleared debts and then made them profitable as well as competing in Serie A and Europe.

The growing belief in Italy, at least among Roma fans, is that they will abandon the club once they have Everton, but Ghisolfi refutes that and insists their eyes are still firmly set on Roma.

“We want a club that is not dependent on technicians or managers, we want to create stability, and we are doing it by expanding the management,” he said.

“We have avoided loans to increase the value of the club’s players. The CEO will be announced soon. Sertori is the director of performance, and we will rebuild the scouting department.

“The Friedkins want a great team in the new stadium. The purchase of Everton? Nothing will change for Roma.”
