Scott McTominay has been enjoying himself since leaving Manchester United, being treated as an arriving hero at Napoli and impressing for the club already.
He did well in his first start for the club, against Juventus, receiving praise from the Italian press and encouraging the hype which has built since his arrival from Old Trafford.
While there are no concerns about his abilities, Napoli seem to be taking extra care of what he’s eating, even though McTominay is known to be a thorough professional.
Il Mattino, as relayed by Calcionapoli24, state that the Scotsman is ‘under observation’ regarding his diet.
Antonio Conte has specific staff to take care of the nutrition of some players and McTominay has had special attention.
That is because, according to the report, he comes from abroad and Napoli want to make sure that he avoids the temptations of the Neapolitan cuisine. They don’t want him to overindulge and want him to stay away from dairy products.
While the likes of Paul Gascoigne have gone to Italy from England and put on weight, football in the UK is far more professional now than it was before.
On top of that, McTominay has always been very football-focused since his younger days at Manchester United.
This is perhaps Napoli’s attempt to be extra careful about their new signings under a manager who is big on fitness, but they’ve likely got no worry here.
