Luis Alberto has impressed throughout much of his time at Lazio, putting behind hi Liverpool disappointment and building a great career.
The midfielder wasn’t able to become an important player for the Reds, at a time when the club were pushing themselves back towards the big time.
While some have even forgotten that Luis Alberto was at Anfield, it’s something which he apparently still thinks about himself. In a chat with Cronache di Spogliatoio, the Spaniard spoke about his stint at Liverpool suggested regret at not sticking it out.
He makes it clear that he could have stayed at the club but decided to leave for more game time.
“Even in Liverpool the dressing room was beautiful, I could have done more: I could have stayed there, but I was young and I wanted to play, so I went.”
He recalls the time fondly and said that he learned a lot at Liverpool. He also talked about Luis Suarez being of big help to him during that period.
“He is a beautiful person. A phenomenon, I was always with him. I didn’t play much but I learned.
“I saw that the Premier League is fantastic in everything, they have an organisation that is the best. We were always at each other’s home. It was impossible to go outside the house without him [Suarez].”
Now at Qatari club Al-Duhail, Luis Alberto proved to be a major success at Lazio, where he won silverware and also become a much-loved figure before a contentious exit.
