If Fulham and Nottingham Forest fans don’t want to feel worse about their failure to sign a striker this summer, then they perhaps shouldn’t read on to discover just how well Omar Marmoush is doing.
BILD cover the Eintracht Frankfurt player today and how he’s shining at the start of the season after turning down offers from the Premier League duo this summer.
Reports throughout the summer had Marmoush linked with a potential move away from Frankfurt after an impressive campaign last year that saw him score 17 goals and register six assists in 41 games in total.
Nottingham Forest were particularly keen and made an effort after being turned away by Santiago Gimenez, while Fulham were also credited with an interest .
Marmoush was not interested in either move, though, with it later explained that he had set his sights a little higher than either Nottingham Forest or Fulham.
And he’s well on the way to doing that, with BILD explaining that he continues to shine for Frankfurt this season.
He bagged a double in the 2-1 win over Wolfsburg on Saturday, taking to 20 goals in 45 games for the Germans so far. He now converts 71% of his big chances, so almost three in four, after previously enjoying a 25% conversion rate.
He also boasts a record of every sixth shot he takes going in, having previously needed 13 attempts per goal.
He’s demonstrating enormous efficiency too, currently finding himself involved in a goal every 116 minutes. This is all as a result of extensive work on his finishing with coach Dino Toppmoller, although he is also demonstrating “skills that can’t be learned” according to sports director Timmo Hardung.
“How much room he still has for improvement is something he can only decide for himself. He has skills that cannot be learned,” he said.
All of this is to ‘recommend himself’ to bigger clubs, say the newspaper, having already turned down Fulham and Nottingham Forest with that goal in mind.
