John Textor has insisted he will be the sole owner of Everton Football Club should he complete a takeover of the club, and not make them a part of the Eagle Football Group.
RMC Sport cover comments from the American businessman today during a press conference at Lyon, another group in his network.
Textor is currently in an exclusivity period with Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri to take over the club at some point this year.
He stepped forward and became the leading candidate for them after the Friedkin Group elected to drop out earlier this year.
Textor first needs to sell his shares in Crystal Palace before he can takeover at Goodison Park, a process which has been ongoing for months and he has insisted is confident can be completed soon.
That’s held up the potential takeover of Everton, although he has been insisting publicly in England that he remains committed to the move and believes it can be done.
That’s a stance that he has now reiterated to the French media and Lyon, insisting there is a 90% chance it will be completed. Everton, though, won’t be added to the Eagle Football group according to his plans.
“The potential acquisition of Everton would come from my own funding and the deal that is being discussed would be me as the buyer and not Eagle Football,” he said.
“The buyer of Everton would be John Textor. I would be the investor. A new holding company would be created. There would be no impact on OL Group.
“The acquisition would be done with equity if it goes well. There is a 90% chance of reaching an agreement, but the current owner of Everton has a lot of choice.”
