Burnley’s Zeki Amdouni has found himself being described as “a ray of sunshine” during the international break.
O Jogo cover comments on the striker today from Switzerland coach Murat Yakin following the 4-1 defeat to Spain.
The Swiss were comfortably beaten by the new European champions on Sunday, with goals from Joselu, Ferran Torres and a double from Fabian Ruiz proving to be the difference.
Burnley’s Amdouni got one back for his team in the 41st minute to make things interesting and hit the bar with a free kick also but goals in the 77th minute and 80th minute wrapped things up comfortably for Spain.
He’s yet to establish himself as the leading man for his nation but it seems he has a fan in Yakin, nonetheless.
“He was a ray of sunshine. He knew how to make the most of his opportunity,” O Jogo report him saying to Blick.
The hope for Amdouni is that he can now take that goal and build on it at club level as he looks to get going at Benfica.
The 23-year-old joined the Portuguese giants from Burnley on loan at the end of August and is yet to make his debut given the international break.
Much has already been made about the striker and what he could do this season and we’re sure this big dose of PR won’t go amiss to winning over Benfica fans either.
