There’s a claim in the French media that Celtic have made an offer for Lyon midfielder Mahamadou Diawara.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is still looking to add to his squad before tomorrows transfer deadline and the 19-year-old is on the Scottish Premiership champion’s radar.
Footmecarto have reported on Celtic’s pursuit for the young midfielder, and they say the Glasgow club have made a loan offer for Diawara, with an option to purchase the player for €8m.
With Matt O’Riley recently signing for Brighton & Hove Albion, Rodgers may feel he’s light in midfield and this could be the reason they are targeting the Lyon man so late in the window.
However, the Ligue 1 side are determined to keep hold of one of their star youngsters and have rejected the offer from Celtic. Despite this the French side may sell for the right price and now it’s a waiting game to see if the Bhoys’ come in with an improved offer.
Diawara made 12 appearances for Lyon last season and has been involved in the Rhone club’s opening games in this campaign. He’s contracted to the club until June 2028 after signing an extension this summer.
