Many people, especially in Catalonia, think Barcelona can come and get whoever they want, but it’s not always like that. Players are often scared they won’t get much game time in such a good squad, and this is the case of Everton’s Gerard Deulofeu right now.
Catalan newspaper Sport has a story today saying the player is still not convinced he wants to join the Catalan side, and he’s the only party stopping the move from Everton from happening.
The player knows that with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar in the team, he won’t get many chances to play, and sitting on the bench isn’t part of his plans.
Deulofeu knows he can’t demand a starting position at the club, but wants a sporting plan that convinces him he’ll get his chances. Especially because with the World Cup is getting close, and he wants to show manager Julen Lopetegui he’s ready.
Barcelona basically have one month to get it all sorted. After convincing Deulofeu to move, they must make him sign a new contract before July 1st.
That’s the deadline for them to pay Everton the €12m and finally bring the player back to the club.
Sport says the ‘mediation’ continues on the potential move.
