Milliyet say Galatasaray are having second thoughts over getting deals completed for Swansea City’s Bafétimbi Gomis and Middlesbrough’s Alvaro Negredo.
The Turkish newspaper claims the Galatasaray board are currently considering Gomis’ situation as they’ve been informed the Swansea City player has a health problem, a worry which seems to date back to the player’s collapse in 2015. If Galatasaray’s board aren’t totally convinced by Gomis’ health situation they are likely to pull out.
Also today Swansea City boss Paul Clement suggested the Frenchman may still have a future at the club, which could further complicate things for the Turkish giants.
Middlesbrough’s Negredo is also an option for Galatasaray but his poor run of form has put doubts over the move. The striker is unlikely to remain at Middlesbrough after they were relegated, and the forward will return to his parent club Valencia this summer.
Galatasaray’s board may also consider signing a younger striker rather than pursue the 32-year-old, which also puts a further question mark over 31-year-old Gomis.
Perhaps the Turkish club should have considered something so non-negotiable as age at the outset.
