A week ago, AS stated Inter Miami’s Diego Gómez is one step away from joining Brighton & Hove Albion this summer.

Inter Miami manager Gerardo Martino has publicly backed the 21-year-old to join the Seagulls, stating that they are the ‘right place’ for him.

Paraguayan journalist Gustavo Rodríguez took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that Gómez will become a new Brighton player for $14m [£10.9m].

Rodríguez has provided more information on this case to Versus, and he says Brighton have reached a ‘full agreement’ to secure the midfielder’s services.

The journalist claims the Paraguay international’s ‘signing will take place’ at Brighton ‘this Monday’. The Premier League side will offer $14m to Inter Miami, and Gómez’s former side Club Libertad will receive 50% of the profit from his move to The Amex.

In another post on X, Rodríguez adds Fabian Hürzeler’s side have an agreement in place with Inter Miami for the player’s transfer, and the only thing that’s missing now is for Gómez to sign the documents and carry out transfer formalities.

Gómez joined Inter Miami in July 2023, and managed five goals and four assists from 28 games.
