Wolves to make ‘second attempt’ for signing, already negotiated terms with player – Fee not an issue

Last summer, Wolverhampton Wanderers were credited with an interest in Nico Elvedi but were unable to get a deal over the line.

The Borussia Mönchengladbach player is back on the Premier League side’s agenda for this summer.

That’s according to Bild, who claim Wolves have had contract details agreed with the 27-year-old for a long time, possibly since last summer.

The English club ended their interest in the centre-back after Julen Lopetegui left them in August 2023. The Spaniard is currently at West Ham United and he has taken Max Kilman from Molineux to the London club.

The Switzerland international would now have emerged as an option to replace Kilman at Wolves.

It’s claimed Gary O’Neil’s side have collected €45m from Kilman’s sale and they will use some of that to bring in his replacement.

This is where Elvedi would fit in and the report claims Wolves will make a ‘second attempt’ to sign the defender. He has a €10m release clause in his deal that lasts until 2027, and Bild claim this shouldn’t be an issue for O’Neil’s side.

Therefore, the potential deal to take Elvedi to Wolves ‘can’t fail because of money’ this summer.
