Régis Le Bris may now be at Sunderland, where he signed a contract which runs until 2027, but his time at FC Lorient is still recalled by the French media.
The reason for that is the comeback of club director Arnaud Tanguy. He had left the job in the summer of 2023, and after a year out, he now got his place back.
Many believe he had issues with Le Bris, and accepted to make a comeback as soon as the manager was posted ahead of his move to Sunderland. Now as newspaper Ouest France features an interview with Tanguy, he denies that anything like that had happened.
“Last year, the chairman decided to give more responsibility to the coach. There are no personal problems with Régis.
The tough times lived by Le Bris with Lorient’s management were never a secret. Just recently, the very same newspaper had been explaining that the manager had disagreements regarding transfer decisions and that led him to ask to leave. Things got to a point where he lost support from fans and was booed in his final game at the club.
That’s quite an interesting background for Sunderland fans to get familiar with, as he’ll hopefully have a calmer time in charge of the Black Cats.
