Napoli director of football Giovanni Manna has two ideas in mind to try and get Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea this summer.
That’s according to Corriere del Mezzogiorno, relayed by Area Napoli, who cover the striker today as his future and a potential reunion with Antonio Conte at Napoli continues to be a matter of discussion.
The striker is set to return to Chelsea this summer following a loan spell at Roma, who have decided against signing him on a permanent basis.
He is not particularly wanted at Stamford Bridge either and the belief is that both parties would prefer a permanent exit to bring an end to a second spell at the club that has not worked out.
Napoli have been named as suitors, particularly if they sell Victor Osimhen, with their new manager Antonio Conte known to be a big fan of the Belgian striker after working successfully with him at Inter Milan.
That doesn’t suit the Blues as they’d prefer that permanent exit and the money from it to help balance their books.
Corriere del Mezzogiorno now explain that Napoli, specifically Manna, are working on two proposals to try and shift the Blues’ thinking.
“Napoli are studying the center forward market to prepare an alternative,” they are quoted as saying.
“Lukaku is a welcome name, a loan is the most suitable formula, but Manna is also thinking of an investment of €20-25m with a longer two-year contract option for the third, but the attacker should lower his demands compared to the €7.5m euros received from Roma.
“They also like Dovbyk from Girona who, however, prefers Atletico Madrid and Gimenez from Feyenoord who is waiting for the America’s Cup showcase, awaiting proposals from clubs playing European cups.”
