Chelsea are eyeing a move for KAA Gent youngster Archie Brown but would send him to RSC Strasbourg to develop first.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reports that it is not only Lyon who are eyeing up the 22-year-old.

Tavolieri reports that Brown has been targeted by BlueCo as an important target for the left-back position, with the aim to sign him for Chelsea before sending Brown to French club Racing Strasbourg to ‘make him grow’.

Their interest in the defender is concrete and they are one step ahead of Lyon at this moment in time as they need to sell Nicolás Tagliafico first.

A deal for Brown can be done for around €8m, double the €4m that KAA Gent paid to sign him from Lausanne-Sport in August 2023.

Whether Chelsea are willing to pay that isn’t mentioned but they are keen on the full-back and have made him an important target for their larger project under BlueCo.

The question is whether Brown would want such a move at this point in his career, even with the prospect of a move to Chelsea further down the line on the table.
