Having some days off in Mexico, Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana was honoured with a mural on a wall in the city of Leon.
The player was pictured next to the tribute and spoke to the local media, who were thrilled with his visit.
Quoted by Periodico Al Dia, Onana talked a little about his friendship with a couple of Mexican footballers, and was even offered to give some advice to the kids who are starting their careers in Mexico now.
The Manchester United goalkeeper talked about the importance of mentality, claiming that’s key to take any athlete reaching a new level.
“I come from a very humble family; Football has given me a lot and the advice I can give is to always make an effort and work for what you want.”
Onana’s strong mentality will have been key to him during his first season at Manchester United, especially the difficult early months after the switch.
Signed from Inter Milan in a €50m move in summer 2023, the goalkeeper made 51 appearances for the Red Devils, conceding 83 goals and keeping 13 clean sheets.
Onana will be hoping for better during the next campaign, and will certainly want to have a more settled back four in front of him at Manchester United.
