West Ham United may be far from leading the race for AZ Alkmaar’s Vangelis Pavlidis, but that doesn’t mean they’ll walk away from the battle.
Portuguese newspaper Record today shares a story explaining that the player is ‘seduced’ by Benfica, as he’s convinced about their project and wants to sign for them.
The big problem is that there’s a big competition for the centre-forward, who had 33 goals and six assists in 46 appearances for the Dutch side this season.
It’s said that besides Benfica’s talks, there are also talks with Atalanta, AS Roma and especially Stuttgart, with AZ expecting the Bundesliga club to bring the highest bid.
West Ham seem to come last, with Record claiming the Hammers are ‘not giving up on him’.
The price for Pavlidis isn’t very high yet, as the newspaper writes that Benfica placed €20m on the table, even though they may be outbid soon.
It’s worth recalling that also today, the Portuguese media claimed that West Ham are bidding for Braga’s Simon Banza, so it seems the Hammers are in the hunt for a goalscorer this summer, and may end up choosing to go for either one or the other.
