The Brazilian FA has organised a seminar to talk about football management this week. The event covers several different matters, with coaches such as Tite, Marcelo Bielsa, and Fabio Capello giving a few tactical lessons to all the people present.
More related to the administrative part, club officials were there too, and Arsenal director Dick Law was one of them.
Asked by Globo Esporte if the manager is staying at Arsenal beyond the end of the season, Law said: “This is a subject for him along with the board.”
But despite the short first answer, he was able to say more. Besides explaining the next few games will be decisive, Law said the decision is not only up to Arsenal, and Wenger must have his say.
“He has strong backing from the board, strong support from the fans. Now, it is fundamental to think, the biggest critic is him with himself. He wants to win. He suffers when we do not win.
“But right now, I think the results will tell. The game against Manchester United was crucial. The game on Wednesday will take another leap up.”
And although the Premier League is seen in Brazil as a role model of how to give managers continuity, Law says it’s a myth: “This stability is not true in England: if you take Arsene Wenger out, the average length of a manager is very low, and today a manager in the Premier League runs a club for an average of two years, so situations like Ferguson and Wenger are exceptions.”
