Earlier this year, SportBild reported Arsenal are in the picture for Paris Saint-Germain’s Xavi Simons, currently on loan at RB Leipzig.
The winger has managed nine goals and 15 assists from 42 games for Leipzig this season and his fine displays haven’t gone unnoticed.
Barcelona have been credited with interest in him in recent days, and are now joined by Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
That’s according to Sport, who state the Gunners and the Bavarian club also have their eyes on the 21-year-old.
Simons was at the La Liga side’s academy and they are now keen on bringing him back to the club. He wants to return to Barca and since he knows the club well, that should help in quick adaptation, if he were to arrive at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona are working on the deal and Sport are of the belief the Ligue 1 winners will try to torpedo this operation.
PSG have made the Netherlands international available in the market and there are two teams who appear ‘very interested’ in him. Those are Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
The Ligue 1 winners are only thinking of letting the player leave for €60m. Barca can’t invest money on him as their priority is to strengthen other positions.
On the other hand, the report says both Arsenal and Bayern have ‘enough cash’ to sign the Dutchman.
Simons wants assurances over playing time, either from his dream club Barca or others, and there should be more clarity on his situation in the coming weeks.
