Watford are pushing hard to sign SC Farense goalkeeper Ricardo Velho, according to the latest reports from Portugal.
Newspaper Record today shares an update on this chase, claiming that the Hornets have ‘intensified contacts’ for the transfer in the past few days.
It’s said Watford are ‘pressing’ to get the 25-year-old, as they want a replacement for Daniel Bachmann this summer.
Velho is protected by a €10m release clause, but it remains to be seen if that’s the price it will take to sign him from Farense.
Watford’s chase for the goalkeeper was first reported a couple of weeks ago. Back then, the Portuguese media highlighted that there could be a race gainst Sevilla, and the negotiations would have to be carried with Jorge Mendes’ agency Gestifute.
It looks like the Hornets are starting some early work to get the negotiation done. Even though they seem to be working on it, it remains to be seen how much money they’ll put on the table to bring Velho to Vicarage Road.
